Can sauna use really make us live longer?

A recent 20 year study found that regular sauna use was associated with decreased rates of all cause mortality- including reasons such as cancer, sudden cardiac death, cardiovascular mortality, heart disease. Using a sauna 2-3 times per week was associated with a 24% reduction in all causes of mortality. Sauna use 4-7 times per week is shown to decrease all causes of mortality by 40%. Sauna use has also been shown to decrease risk of stroke, hypertension and alzheimer’s as well as improve health through reduction of inflammation and excretion of heavy metals.
